About the Club

The Bassetlaw Hill and Mountain Club was formed on the turn of the millennium in Worksop, north Nottinghamshire following a call to arms in the local newspaper by Mick Kent (pictured, on his first trip to the summit of Mont Blanc).

It quickly became a refuge and meeting place for a community of mountain-minded enthusiasts stranded in the distinctly non-mountainous region of the East Midlands of England.

Walks, meetups and trips were originally organised at in-person monthly meetings (which continue to this day!), but the digital age has since enabled members from further afield to get involved. In the last decade the Club has spread outwards from it’s original Bassetlaw hub and has even welcomed members from as far afield as Cornwall and the West Coast.

For 25 years the Club has expanded the horizons of it’s members, helping them develop skills, memories and friendships that they might otherwise never have found.

Check out our Program for this year, and our photos from previous trips. If it looks like this could be the place for you, then get in touch via the form at the bottom of the homepage, or pop down to one of our monthly meetings, we’d be glad to welcome you aboard :)
